In short · Updated

Momentum builds radiologist schedules by site, subspecialty and shift, from daytime reads to overnight teleradiology. It counts nights, weekends and holidays for every radiologist against your fairness goals, shows hour-by-hour coverage across time zones, and lets radiologists request time off and trade shifts from their phone. It schedules people; it does not distribute studies or replace your PACS, RIS or worklist.

Why radiology schedules break

A radiology group covers hospitals, imaging centers and remote reads at the same time. Each site needs the right subspecialists at the right hours, nights and weekends have to be shared in a way partners accept, and one vacation week or sick call ripples through the month. Teleradiology adds client hospitals in other time zones, each with its own contracted hours. A spreadsheet holds it together until the one person who knows every rule is out.

  • Matching neuro, body, MSK, breast, IR and general readers to each site
  • Sharing nights, weekends, holidays and vacation weeks so partners trust the result
  • Covering each client hospital’s hours in its own time zone
  • Absorbing sick calls and swaps without rebuilding the month

What Momentum does for a radiology group

One schedule for every site and subspecialty

Each hospital, imaging center and reading service is a line in the schedule, with its own hours and shifts. Each radiologist is eligible only for the work you approve: a breast imager can be assigned mammography and biopsy days, and an interventional radiologist procedure days and IR call. Momentum generates the schedule from those rules, lists every rule a draft breaks and shows each unassigned shift before you publish.

While you build, the screen shows unassigned shifts, average hours per radiologist and schedule cost. The shift view groups each day into your own blocks, such as day, evening and overnight. Technologists and front-desk teams can share the same schedule, each with their own rules.

Teleradiology scheduling across time zones

Remote reading shifts are scheduled like on-site ones and count in the same fairness totals. Each client hospital can be its own line, open only to the radiologists licensed in that state and credentialed at that hospital: Momentum schedules no one else there. It does not track license or privilege expiry dates; your credentialing system keeps those.

The timeline view shows coverage hour by hour and highlights gaps and overlaps. It can display several time zones, so a shift that starts at 10 p.m. Eastern also reads as 7 p.m. Pacific.

You can post open shifts to the job board; eligible radiologists bid from the app and you approve who gets each one. Shifts that come from client contracts can be imported unassigned, from a file or over SFTP, then filled in the schedule.

Fair nights, weekends and holidays for every radiologist

Nights, weekends, holidays, call and vacation weeks are counted for every radiologist. You set fairness goals by role, and the equity report shows who is above or below target before the schedule goes out, ready to share with partners.

Sick calls, swaps and requests without rebuilding the month

Radiologists send time-off requests and preferences from the app. When you approve a request, Momentum lists the shifts it touches and lets you clear or keep each one. Gives, takes and swaps are requested from the web or the app and approved by an administrator, and notifications go out by email, in-app message or mobile, as each person sets them.

Schedules also appear in Outlook or any calendar app, and the mobile app shows the schedule offline.

Where Momentum fits

Momentum schedules people. It does not distribute studies, track licenses or credentials, or replace your PACS, RIS or worklist, and it holds no patient data. Around them, Momentum adds time and attendance, payroll exports, Outlook calendars, Microsoft sign-in and file or SFTP imports.

“I am very satisfied with the tool and highly recommend it, especially for its integrations with other tools, which provide a real internal time-saving benefit.”
Anthony Bagot, Operations Manager, IMAGIR radiology group (Bordeaux, France)

Radiology groups already schedule with Momentum

Radiology groups and hospital imaging departments in the United States, Canada and Europe build their schedules in Momentum, a teleradiology provider among them, some for more than ten years. In all, more than 250 healthcare organizations use Momentum across more than 1,000 sites in nine countries.

Frequently asked questions

Does Momentum replace our PACS, RIS or worklist?

No. Momentum schedules radiologists and staff: who reads where, when and for which client. Study distribution stays in your PACS, worklist or teleradiology platform. Momentum holds scheduling data only, no patient records.

Can Momentum schedule teleradiology across time zones?

Yes. Remote reading shifts are scheduled like on-site ones, each client hospital can have its own line, and the timeline view shows coverage hour by hour, with gaps and overlaps highlighted and several time zones displayed.

Can we limit each client hospital to radiologists licensed and credentialed for it?

Yes. Each client hospital can be its own line, open only to the radiologists you approve for it, such as those licensed in that state and credentialed at that hospital. Momentum schedules no one else there. It does not track license or privilege expiry dates; your credentialing system keeps those.

How does Momentum keep the schedule fair between partners?

It counts nights, weekends, holidays, call and vacation for each radiologist against goals you set by role. The equity report shows who is above or below target before you publish.

Can radiologists trade shifts from their phone?

Yes. They request a give, take or swap from the mobile app or the web, and an administrator approves it. Open shifts can be posted to the job board, where radiologists bid and an administrator approves the assignment.

How long does it take to get started?

Each rollout includes setting up your rules, importing your current schedule, connecting the systems you need and training your schedulers. Depending on scope, going live takes from a few days for the lightest setups to a few months for a multi-site group.

What does Momentum cost?

Plans start at USD 5.99 per user per month, in four tiers: Starter, Plus, Pro and Enterprise. The pricing page lists what each one includes.
