In short · Updated
Momentum schedules cardiologists, advanced practice providers, sonographers and technologists across hospitals and outpatient offices. It keeps general, interventional and electrophysiology call with the cardiologists you approve for each, staffs echo and nuclear reading, hospital services and clinic days from your rules, counts call, weekends and holidays against fairness goals, and lets everyone request time off and trade shifts from their phone. It schedules people, not patients, procedures or rooms.
Why cardiology schedules are hard to build
A cardiology group runs several schedules at once. General, interventional and electrophysiology call each need their own subspecialists, someone has to read echo and nuclear studies every day, hospital consult and rounding services rotate, and clinic days are spread across offices. Every cardiologist expects fair call and protected time off, and one vacation week moves pieces in all of them.
- Keeping interventional and EP call with the cardiologists who cover them
- Staffing echo, nuclear and stress reading every day
- Rotating hospital services and outreach clinic days across sites
- Sharing call, weekends and holidays so partners trust the result
What Momentum does for a cardiology group
Every service and site in one schedule
Each hospital service, reading assignment and office is a line in the schedule: consult service, echo reading, nuclear and stress, device clinic, or clinic days at each office. Each cardiologist is eligible only for the lines you approve, and eligibility can be limited to certain weekdays, so an outreach clinic is staffed only on the days it runs. Momentum generates the schedule from those rules, lists every rule a draft breaks and shows each unassigned shift before you publish.
Advanced practice providers, sonographers, technologists and nurses can share the same schedule, each team with its own contracts and rules.

General, interventional and EP call
General cardiology call, interventional (STEMI) call and electrophysiology call are separate lines, each with its own counters and open only to the cardiologists you approve for it. Rules such as a day off after in-house call, a cap on consecutive call nights or a minimum rest between shifts are set once and applied every time the schedule is generated.
Groups that cover several hospitals can give each one its own call line. The timeline view shows coverage hour by hour and highlights gaps and overlaps.
Fair call, weekends and holidays
Call, weekends, holidays and vacation weeks are counted for every cardiologist. You set fairness goals by role and can weight them, so a part-time partner takes a smaller share of call. The equity report shows who is above or below target before the schedule goes out.
Time off, swaps and open shifts
Cardiologists send time-off requests and preferences from the app. When you approve a request, Momentum lists the shifts it conflicts with and lets you clear or keep each one. Gives, takes and swaps are requested from the web or the app and approved by an administrator; open shifts can go to the job board, where eligible cardiologists bid.
Schedules also appear in Outlook or any calendar app, and the mobile app shows the schedule offline.
Where Momentum fits
Momentum schedules people. It does not book patients, schedule procedures or cath lab rooms, or replace your EHR or cardiovascular information system, and it holds no patient data. It does not track board certifications, licenses or hospital privileges. Around the schedule, Momentum adds time and attendance, payroll exports, Outlook calendars, Microsoft sign-in and file or SFTP imports.
Cardiology groups already schedule with Momentum
Cardiology practices in the United States build their schedules in Momentum, from a heart institute and a hospital heart clinic to the cardiology group of a large multispecialty practice. In all, more than 250 healthcare organizations use Momentum across more than 1,000 sites in nine countries.
Frequently asked questions
Does Momentum schedule procedures or cath lab rooms?
No. Momentum schedules cardiologists and staff: who covers which call, reading, service and clinic, and when. Procedure and room scheduling stay in your EHR or cardiovascular information system. Momentum holds scheduling data only, no patient records.
Can STEMI call go only to interventional cardiologists?
Yes. Each call line is open only to the cardiologists you approve for it, so interventional call goes to interventionalists and EP call to electrophysiologists. Momentum does not track board certifications or privileges; you decide who is eligible.
Can echo and nuclear reading be scheduled with call and clinics?
Yes. Reading assignments are lines like any other, with their own hours and eligible cardiologists, and they count in the same totals as call and clinic days.
Can sonographers and APPs be on the same schedule?
Yes. Advanced practice providers, sonographers, technologists and nurses can be scheduled next to the cardiologists, each team with its own contracts and rules.
How long does it take to get started?
Each rollout includes setting up your rules, importing your current schedule, connecting the systems you need and training your schedulers. Depending on scope, going live takes from a few days for the lightest setups to a few months for a multi-site group.
What does Momentum cost?
Plans start at USD 5.99 per user per month, in four tiers: Starter, Plus, Pro and Enterprise. The pricing page lists what each one includes.
