In short · Updated
Momentum schedules neurologists, advanced practice providers, fellows and residents across hospitals and clinics. It keeps stroke call, EEG and EMG reading and inpatient service weeks with the neurologists you approve for each, staffs subspecialty clinics on the days they run, counts call, weekends and holidays against fairness goals, and lets everyone request time off and trade shifts from their phone. It schedules people; it does not route stroke alerts or consults.
What makes a neurology schedule hard
A neurology department covers the hospital and the clinic at the same time. Stroke call is answered around the clock, often for more than one hospital. Someone reads EEG every day, the EMG lab needs its days, inpatient and consult services rotate by the week, and epilepsy, movement disorders, MS and headache clinics each need their subspecialists. Academic departments add fellows and residents, each with their own limits.
- Covering stroke call around the clock, for one hospital or several
- Staffing EEG reading and EMG lab days with the right subspecialists
- Rotating inpatient and consult service weeks without breaking clinic days
- Sharing nights, weekends and holidays fairly among partners or faculty
What Momentum does for a neurology team
Stroke call, at one hospital or several
Stroke call is a line with its own hours and counters, open only to the neurologists you approve for it. Groups that cover several hospitals, on site or by telestroke, can give each hospital its own line. The timeline view shows coverage hour by hour, highlights gaps and overlaps, and can display several time zones.
Rules such as a cap on consecutive call nights or a minimum rest between shifts are set once and applied every time the schedule is generated, and validation lists every rule a draft breaks before it goes out.
EEG, EMG and clinics by subspecialty
EEG reading, the EMG lab and each subspecialty clinic are lines with their own hours. Each neurologist is eligible only for the work you approve, and eligibility can be limited to certain weekdays, so the movement disorders clinic is staffed only on the days it runs. Momentum generates the schedule from those rules and shows each unassigned shift before you publish.
Inpatient service weeks
Ward and consult services often run by the week. Set up a block of service weeks once and repeat it across the year with pattern duplication, then adjust single weeks for vacations. Service weeks, call, weekends and holidays are counted for every neurologist, and the equity report shows who is above or below target before you publish.
Fellows, residents and APPs in the same schedule
Fellows, residents and advanced practice providers are scheduled on the same services. For residents, set maximum hours and minimum rest to match your program’s duty-hour limits; validation lists any breach. Our ACGME duty-hours guide sums up the current rules and the 2028 proposal.
Time off, swaps and calendars
Neurologists send time-off requests and preferences from the app. When you approve a request, Momentum lists the shifts it conflicts with and lets you clear or keep each one. Swaps are requested from the web or the mobile app and approved by an administrator, and schedules appear in Outlook or any calendar app.
Where Momentum fits
Momentum schedules people. It does not route stroke alerts or consults, connect to telestroke platforms, read EEG or EMG studies, or replace your EHR, and it holds no patient data. It does not track licenses or hospital privileges. Around the schedule, Momentum adds time and attendance, payroll exports, Outlook calendars, Microsoft sign-in and file or SFTP imports.
Frequently asked questions
Can Momentum cover stroke call for several hospitals?
Yes. Each hospital can have its own stroke call line, open only to the neurologists you approve for it, and the timeline view shows coverage hour by hour with gaps highlighted. Momentum schedules who is on call; alerts and consults stay in your telestroke platform or paging system.
Can we schedule inpatient service by the week?
Yes. Service weeks are assignments like any other. A block of weeks can be repeated across the year with pattern duplication and adjusted week by week, and service weeks count in each neurologist’s totals.
Can EEG reading go only to neurologists who read EEG?
Yes. Each line is open only to the neurologists you approve for it. Momentum does not track board certifications or privileges; you decide who is eligible.
Can neurologists trade shifts from their phone?
Yes. They request a give, take or swap from the mobile app or the web, and an administrator approves it. Open shifts can be posted to the job board, where eligible neurologists bid and an administrator approves the assignment.
How long does it take to get started?
Each rollout includes setting up your rules, importing your current schedule, connecting the systems you need and training your schedulers. Depending on scope, going live takes from a few days for the lightest setups to a few months for a multi-site group.
What does Momentum cost?
Plans start at USD 5.99 per user per month, in four tiers: Starter, Plus, Pro and Enterprise. The pricing page lists what each one includes.
